Appreciation post

This is an appreciation post and recommendation for my friend, collaborator, and very talented artist Marc von Borstel.

Marc and I worked on lots of photoshoots back when I was at magazines and reconnected when I returned to Seattle from Boston at the start of covid. It has been wonderful growing our friendship and connecting over our shared love of fashion and campy culture. A couple of months ago I told Marc about my photo phobia—irrational, but I freeze whenever a camera is pointed at me—and that I needed an updated headshot for a project and would he consider doing mine? Marc not only made time to take my pictures but did my hair and makeup, too (He did hair/makeup before photography.) We had a good day. He brought his awesome dog, Dino, who helped me relax and we laughed nonstop and listened to great music. Before this photoshoot I was painfully shy about sharing my picture, but Marc gave me confidence. For the first time, I actually love my headshots, and it's a good new feeling!

Do any of you need headshots or professional photography? I highly recommend Marc. He can do it all (fashion, still, outdoor, studio), goes above and beyond, and is simply a wonderful human being to know.
